SONGLINES

Songlines McLaren Vale Shiraz

Songlines is a spectacular and individual, hand-crafted wine that is produced with rigorous care and attention and in small quantities.

The winemaking behind Songlines is extremely complicated as no individual vineyard parcel is given the same complete treatment. Each vineyard is separated into a minimum of two discrete batches for fermentation, often more, and different techniques applied to each.

In truth, many great techniques are used, all depending on the individual batch and what is required by the grapes. The decision is made at the time of harvest and not predetermined by a recipe.

The result is an amazing process which builds layers of complexity into Songlines and allows for development in years to come. It will reward those with the appropriate cellar conditions for extended maturation.

BYLINES

Bylines McLaren Vale Shiraz

Just like its older brother Songlines, Bylines is expertly hand-made from some of the best vineyards across Australia’s premium viticultural regions.

The difference between the wines is that the batches selected for Bylines are those that will show a more generous flavour earlier in its life, with softer tannins, rounder structure and an open display of fruit character.

Rigorous care and attention is taken in the winemaking process and it is extremely complicated with no individual vineyard parcel being given the same complete treatment. The decision is made at the time of harvest not predetermined to a recipe.

The end result is a wine with all the style and character of Songlines but will be drinking well within 12-18 months and also reward patience and further ageing.

LEYLINES

Leylines McLaren Vale Shiraz

“Songlines is made from the best of vintage fruit for structure and longevity. Bylines is made for age worthiness but with a more generous flavour earlier in life. Leylines is for those who just
can’t wait!”

Leylines is made with the same meticulous care and attention as Songlines and Bylines but with a smaller price tag.The grapes come from vineyard blocks not far from those that go into Songlines and Bylines and the fruit has been specifically hand chosen for its approachability as a young wine.

Often just as old, these vines produce fruit that is selected for its approachability. The Winemaking uses warmer ferments in traditional open fermenters with hand pigeage four times each day to soften the palate, and the use of older barrels to impart less oak dominance. This style has softer tannins suggesting cellaring for the medium term and earlier drinking in mind.

Balanced and fully approachable, Leylines will hold for 4-6 years.
